THE GARDEN OF SPIRITED MINDS | Dalija Acin Thelander (Serbia/Sweden)

durational performance / installation for babies of 0-12 months
concept, choreography, stage and light design by Dalija Acin Thelander | in collaboration and performed by Noah Hellwig and Dalija Acin Thelander | music by Thomas Jeker

The Garden Of Spirited Minds proposes to babies and their adults exceptional immersive and multi-sensorial artistic experience. It invites audience to freely move, enjoy multiple perspectives, explore, be active and/or relax - choosing the ways to engage with the proposed environment. The installation/performance environment is designed to challenge usual conceptions of aesthetics for babies and it affirms the idea of place as sensed, place as sensation - space as audile-tactile or kinesthetic sensory universe in which proprioception is key. The role of the care-taker is emphasized as adults are invited to support and follow their child and to share the experience. This work approaches its audience not as an individual who experiences the art in transcendent or existential isolation but as part of collective or community.

16 (Wednesday) 10.00 and 18.00, black hall
17 (Thursday) 10.00, black hall

With the help of talented puppeteers, soft geometrical figures magically come to life and become real characters. A red ball connects various stages of life of two people, their love, birth of a child and his growth. Colorful characters develop a subtle palette of feelings, together with the live music of accordion. In universal language, this wordless object theater invites the audience to free their imagination and recognize the moments in life that we all know.

TVÄRSLÖJD | Kompani Giraff (Sweden)

contemporary circus performance, recommended age 4 – 8 | duration’ 45 min.
on stage Jenny Soddu ir Julietta Birkeland | director Viktoria Dalborg | music Hans Appelqvist | scenography and costume Ellen Utterström

Two circus performers create living sculptures from common objects and their own bodies. Through acrobatics and a little bit of magic, they find moments of perfect balance that is only possible to keep with a help of various stage objects. The story in Tvärslöjd is not an ordinary one but completely open for the children’s interpretation and imagination. While characters surprise themselves by finding various uses of the tools on stage, the audience can guess where this action, filled with elegant movements, is taking place. Where are they? Maybe inside a giant paint bucket? A secret room? Or in a magical forest? Tvärslöjd is a performance about how imagination gives us an opportunity to go from nothing to something, from nowhere to anywhere.

20 NOVEMBER | Jupither Josephsson Theatre Company (Sweden)

documentary theater | recommended age 15+ | duration 60’
playwright Lars Norén | director Sofia Jupither | actor David Fukamachi Regnfors | scenography and costume Erlend Birkeland | light design Ellen Ruge

Sebastian is 17 years old and he is lost. There doesn't seem to be a place for him anywhere. Years of alienation and bullying have completely isolated him. His place on earth, in society, in school is becoming more and more uncertain and a frustration grows that beats faster and harder for each day. Something has to be done.

My actions
are simply the result
of your world
A world that wouldn`t
let me be who I am
You laughed at me

20 NOVEMBER is both a portrait of a lost boy trying to recreate his value, as well as an incisive look into into human nature itself.

The play was created due to a collaboration between Lars Norén and German actor Anne Tismer at a time when Germany healed the wounds after a school massacre when several people were injured and the young perpetrator Sebastian died.He also released personal and emotional material online before commencing his attack on November 20, 2006.

If I can't find
a meaning in life
I will find
a meaning in death

Based on Sebastian's own texts, Lars Norén wrote the play, which was originally premiered in 2007. The play has since then been staged in many countries, including Germany, France, Mexico, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Canada.

Jupither Josephsson Theatre Company's production of the play is the first Swedish production. The production premiered at the main festival at Festival of Avignon in July 2016.

20 (Sunday) 12.00 and 15.00

By Hand is a story told with clay, the story of a small character with a great desire to escape from a shop window and its inhabitants. It is a love story, a story about small failures, a potter's wheel, a cup that breathes, two people with great enthusiasm, a tiny pottery workshop and four hands that play.
